2012 San Mateo, CA - Revisited

Back in 2012, I was given the good fortune of being assigned for training for our work in the USA. I was working in San Mateo, it's a not-so-often-heard place that I haven't heard from any Hollywood movie. It's located around 20 miles south of San Francisco. Unlike the crowded 'Frisco though, it's actually very peaceful and quiet. It is by far among the best surprises I ever had. The town is very upscale and folks are friendly. This is one of the few places that I'll definitely remember.

I got a good chance to take evening walks and a nice camera at the time. Here are some of the pictures I've taken around town. There are a lot of parks here, this one in particular is in the residential area.

Other than my long exposure shots, I also got a good chance to shoot the moon while testing my then-new lens, the Samyang 500mm f/8. It's a decent lens, to say the least.

Heavenly Mooncutter!

The bulk of my shots are here in my old storage: PHOTOBUCKET

Until then, don't let getting lost scare you from going out to wander! :)

Around California

We came here for work. I managed to somehow steal some snaps along the way especially outside work. I tend to forget my photographic side when at the office due to immense tasks we tackle day in and day out. This album has some shots I have taken outside the office, during the weekend before work, or on some nights after working.

By night time we went to this place called Red Ribbon-- I mean, Red Robin. They sure do how to make good food. Unlimited fries and a hefty serving of burger. It's about as American as it gets...

How we spent Sunday Morning- Shopping! We went to buy some winter wear, in preparation for the weather in Nashville. Disappointingly, though, we weren't destined to frolic in the snow. At least not on this trip.

Random road trips. The boss went to pick up stuff that night in San Jose. Errand for him, Road trip for the rest of us. Nothing like seeing the random sights! Yes, even at night.

And just like that Sunday was over. On to the work week... Though we came to work relatively late on Monday (We still didn't have the proper access to the facility so we'd end up waiting at the doorstep until 8AM if we came in early.) the following days were a different story. Below is a picture I managed to snap going to work. The office facility was just over the bridge. Coming to work before sunrise meant cold morning walks, which I personally didn't mind.

Next up, We're going to have a glimpse of where we stayed. It wasn't really that high end, but I like the way it was set up. Until then, let's get lost and wander!

Quiet Coffee Nights

Not every night is a restful night for someone used to staying up late at night. When it's my night off and I'm having a bout of insomnia, I tend to go out. And so here I wander again. Here are a few shots I have from some nights I've been out.
Up For A Long Night
Up For A Long Night. A customer sifts through his documents getting ready to work through the night... Or at least until the coffee shop closes.

Company For The Night
Company For The Night. Another quiet night. I somehow appreciate it.
And it helps to have some nice music and a good cup of coffee.

When was the last time you admired the wall decors?

Where Coffee Came From
Where Coffee Came From. I think it's an appropriate image for the place. While you're sipping your favorite java, spare a thought for those that harvested them.

The Spot That Sees All
The Spot That Sees All. I think that seat there is the best seat in
the whole room. It has a good view of everyone but if you sit there
you don't necessarily stand out.

Awkward Corner
Awkward Corner. The door at the rightmost side is an emergency exit. The bright area at the center is the kitchen/storage/etc. It's not ideal but I think it kinda works somehow.

Floating Rods
Floating Rods. I am fond of these. They look amazing and surreal.
I guess they're a challenge to clean and maintain though.

Until then, let's get lost and wander. :-)
