December Nights In Ayala

It was a quiet night. I thought I’d go out and enjoy the lights. It doesn’t have to be a dark and gloomy night. There are lights everywhere cheerful and sparkling making it alright.

Lights All Around
Lights All Around. Visitors look on admiring the season themed lights, like the local shop customers and the tourists taking a stroll.

Brightly Lighted Trees
Brightly Lighted Trees. The night looks lovely and lively with lights aplenty adorning the trunks of the trees in the local landscape. If it were up to me I’d have them there all year.

A Tree Amid The Urban Jungle
A Tree Amid The Urban Jungle. This tree that stands in the greenbelt area looks taller than it actually is. In the backdrop, the urban jungle with buildings towering to great heights. The illumination here is courtesy of the lightbulb adorned palm trees in the vicinity.

Towers Of Lights
Towers Of Lights. I got to a spot a bit far from the lights, and sat among the folks admiring this sight. On some days, the spot I sat on would’ve been a stage. But for tonight it’s my vantage point that gave me this view.

Lighted Disks
Lighted Disks. After that time at the mall, I went to the local park. My friend and I hung out at the coffee shop (CBTL) and I got to see these lovely disc-themed lights.

The Lights Beyond
The Lights Beyond. It was a dark moonless night but I still managed to light up the image. I like how blue the skies get at night. It's a darker shade of blue. Details are brought out and illuminated by the lights from the surrounding area.

Colorless But Not Lifeless
Colorless But Not Lifeless. Even in the absence of different hues, it still makes for a lively night. A giveaway that it was the middle of the night was the fact that there was hardly anyone on sight.

What have you been up to to enjoy your evenings in December?

Shooting In The Dark

During workdays this is what I see when I step out to grab dinner.
I'm amazed at how much detail it got. Taken hand held too.

It was another long night. I didn't want to just stay at home. So I decided to get lost somewhere... Again.
It was a lonely night and I was trying to keep the blues at bay. Instead of just contaminating my home with the bad vibes I decided to take a hike. After some shopping I went to BGC and had dinner.

View from the parking lot. Not the best of my moon shots though.
It just looks like a glowing blob here.

I decided there's not much to shoot here so I decided to go home... But not until after I revisit  my old hangout: Ayala Triangle. I stopped by the coffee shop and after that before leaving, I thought I'd try to see what I can get shooting a practically pitch black environment. It's actually a pleasant surprise.

I got some surprising amount of detail aiming at the dark. ISO 5000, 1/4 sec. exposure with f/3.5 gave me this. Also, this was taken hand held.

Sat on a bench and limited the ISO to 200 and aperture to f/5.6, I compensated with exposure time at 6 seconds and I got this.

Just to give an idea as to about how dark it was. This kinda nails it.

It still  doesn't stop me though. It gives a different effect.

A little adjustment and I got to capture the scene with a bit more brightness.

Pathway going out.

I should do this more often.

Now I'm fairly happy with the pictures I got (Yes, I'm not hard to please. LOL) I decided to go home. It's midnight already after all.

Until then, let's get lost and wander. :)

Sunday At Ayala Triangle

I've never been to Ayala Triangle. For starters, I thought the place wasn't open to the public to  begin with. I thought it's part of the property of Makati Stock Exchange and Philippine Stock Exchange... And, well, not open to the public. Good thing I'm wrong. Basically, I got kinda lost again and had a good time. :)

Whoa. I didn't know there was a park here.

Today I wasn't alone though. I got a chance to meet up with Hani (Her blog here) and we got a chance to take some pictures. She's fairly new to photography so I got to show her the ropes. (Yes, I teach basic photography to anyone who asks or wants to know. It's a me thing I guess.)

I never actually imagined that there'd be a grassy park here. LOL

She uses her left eye. Just like yours truly.  It can be awkward at times but you'll get used to it.

The closer you get the more delectable it looks.

Yes, I'm shooting some creepy doll figures again. Different effects in the gallery.

I don't know what tree this is but I like it. Notice how it branches out early on instead of having the trunk go up high first.

When was the last time you looked up and saw leaves and branches giving you shade instead of a roof or other buildings?

Look at this tile! Look at it.

Yeah they put a park here. They indeed made it happen.

Alone Together

Add some deep inspirational quote there somewhere...

This appears to me like a metaphor for something. I can't find the words to describe it though.

Makati City 1980. Ok, not really. I like the retro look though.

If I add everything here the whole thing will be too long. Here's the gallery for the pictures from this day.

At the end of the afternoon we parted ways. She went on to attend to some affairs, and I went to attend my afternoon affairs (Read: SLEEP. I was up all night.) Next time, we'll talk about equivalence, composition, among other things I guess.
Take note, not all of the effects here are from camera filters. I was also trying out the impressive list of effects from Photobucket.

There we go. That was a fun weekend. I should do that and go out more often. Until next time, let's get lost and wander. :)
