Playing With (Japanese) Dolls

Okay, so this is a bit of a throwback. Sometime ago, I think this was early January, during a family get together at a certain restaurant, I got a chance to look up and found something adorable...

Just above one's plain sight there are doll figurines hanging. Lighting was fairly poor at that time so please do excuse the less-than-stellar image quality. I'm quite amazed how the camera was able to cope with it though. Additional to that, I got a chance to fiddle with the filters.

I went on using filter bracketing and selected a few that I liked. The effect of each filter was amazing. Depending on the subject, the filter either enhanced it or transformed the look and feel of the image altogether into something unfamiliar. I've put together a small gallery containing these pics.

Here are the images and their respective filters used altogether. As you can see, having filters can sometimes go far in enhancing the image. These images are no taller than five inches in real life. I'm thankful that I carry my bag around with my camera that allows me to swap lenses as needed. This set is courtesy of the M.Zuiko 40-150mm. Not bad for a second hand lens, too.

Until next post, cheers!

San Diego Beach Day Out

I don't usually go to the beach, but when I do, it's in California...

Okay, not really. My kind relatives thought it'd be cool for us to visit the beach. And they were right. I got plenty of shots of the local flora and fauna. I don't necessarily know what plants are present, but I like them anyway. There are a lot of beautiful ladies in San Diego...

But I chose to shoot the wildlife because wildlife don't get spooked and find me creepy if I shoot them all day. I especially love that squirrel that posed for me and that pelican that didn't give a crap when I was taking its pictures. Some were even teasing me-- That sea lion in particular that had a satisfied look on its face sticking out its tongue to bait me into shooting and pulling it back in before the camera can capture it.

No offense to the sea lions but they kinda stink. And them seagulls dump their crap practically wherever they fancy. I suppose part of going back to nature is having to put up with all that.

At the end of the day, it was a fun and memorable experience. Memories may fade, but pictures have a way of reminding us of how the day went..

I've Seen Mexico

Yep. Yes I did. And without a Visa too. It looked nice but I don't think that it's my cup of tea.

Beyond this sign is the border. The horizon is already Mexico.

Ok, so this is the closest I physically gotten to Mexico. The mall where I took this picture from already felt like Mexico,
filled with lots of latinos and latinas and almost everyone was speaking Spanish.
See? Told you so... I saw it. I didn't necessarily say that I visited it.
